Dorchester Item No.: 89 No. of Sheets: 1
Title: Transcript of a note sent to Mr Percy Manning by Reverend J.E. Field of Benson on 27 December 1901.
Content: The note included reference to the Oxfordshire Times, June 4, 1886. Mentions that Mr J. Oldrid Scott read a paper on Dorchester Abbey to the Berkshire Archaeological and Historical Society describing the excavations in the north east Chapel. There they found a Roman pavement with remains of burnt corn and bones underneath, which they took to be the debris of a pagan sacrifice.
