| Title: | Letter cut from newspaper, 'Jackson's Oxford Journal, 23 January, 1897' and adhered to lined note paper. | ||||
| Content: | A letter from Mr Percy Manning to the Oxford Journal. In response to the report by the Oxford Journal of Mr John Gilbert's lecture at the Clarendon Press Institute on 'Historic Oxford: Military, Monastic and Municipal.' Manning argues (seemingly against Mr Gilbert) for the continuous population of Oxford and its neighbourhood from the earliest times. Provides evidence and refers to Mr J. Park-Harrison's list of Romano-British and Roman remains found in Oxfordshire. | ||||
