| Title: | Page extracted from publication; 'Archaeologia, Volume LIV, pp.497 - 498'. | ||||
| Content: | Page includes two woodcuts of a Late-Celtic dagger sheath found in Oxfordshire, one viewed from the front and one viewed from the back. The text in between the two images explains that it was exhibited to the Society of Antiquaries by Mr Percy Manning on 24 January 1895. The item was found in a backwater of the Thames close to North Hinksey. The text goes on to report a communication on the item read to the society by Mr C.H. Read. Gives a detailed description of the sheath and discusses its type in relation to other examples, especially three sheaths in the British Museum. On the reverse of the page, Manning has written in some of the article which was cut from the top and writes a note in pencil below it. The note discusses the decoration on the sheath. | ||||
