Title: Manuscript extract from publication: 'Archaeological Journal, Volume VIII, p.423, November 7, 1851'.
Content: Concerning the exhibition by Mr C. Faulkner of fragments of Samian ware pottery found at Blacking Grove, near Deddington. Explains that on the bottom of one piece was the potters mark: VIRTVTIS. Mentions that this mark is found in Roach Smith's list of potters in Collectanea Antiqua, I, p.155 as occurring on Samian ware in London. Faulkner also exhibited a small brass coin found at the same site with the inscription CONSTANTINOPOLIS and with Victory in a galley on the reverse.
