| Title: | Cutting from a newspaper: 'The Oxford Times, 5 December 1903' adhered to lined backing paper. | ||||
| Content: | Extract entitled: 'Discovery of Anglo-Saxon Remains at Kingston Bagpuize'. Discusses the exhumation of a skeleton by the son of the farmer at Kingston Hill Farm while digging stone for a road. Along with the skeleton were found pottery sherds, an iron knife blade and a bone needle, from which it was determined that the skeleton was Anglo-Saxon in origin. Also mentions that a 'well known antiquarian' (who Manning has pencilled in as being Mr James Parker of Oxford) gave them the information to write a brief history of the neighbourhood, which is included in the article. Also discusses the tumulus, its situation, the human remains found there and a possible date for the interment. | ||||
