Sutton Courtenay | Item No.: | 1 | No. of Sheets: | 1 |
| Title: | Sheet of notes, probably written by Mr E.T. Leeds | ||||
| Content: | Page entitled 'Sutton Courtenay'. Leeds (?) reports that, on the 9 July, he observed traces of prehistoric pits visible on the exposed surface gravel of the eastern edge of a pit containing a Saxon village (published in Archaeologia, Volume I). One of the pits was excavated by Mr D.B. Harden and Leeds (?), on the 24 and 25 July. The notes go on to describe the pit and the object found in it. These included: charcoal, flint debris, hammer stones, scrapers, serrated flakes, an arrowhead, boilers and a bone implement from a split bone, possibly the butt end of a neolithic axe. | ||||
