| Content: | Concerning the discovery of pottery (Mortaria, pseudo - Samian ware, coarse 'smother-kiln' ware), bone and filled holes in a quarry on the Akeman Street (on the road from Bicester to Aylesbury). Manning mentions that he has a large quartzite pounder from the same place. Also mentions a bronze fragment, possibly the lower part of a Roman stirrup, in his possession discovered in a garden in Blackthorn village. | ||||
