| Content: | Photograph of a pottery vessel. The notes next to the photograph indicate that the item is in the Ashmolean Museum (Department of Antiquities), Accession Register Number 1886.1457. The dimensions of the vessel are given, along with the information that the item was found in Wytham on 31 january 1872 in 2 and a half feet of black earth. Two pieces of pottery and the jaw of a pike were found with it. The vessel was initially in the collection of Professor George Rolleston before it was transferred to the Ashmolean Museum. On the reverse of the page is a rough sketch of a vessel headed 'Yarnton'. | ||||
