| Content: | Concerning the large stone coffin found a mile out of Burford on a new road being made from Upton to Little Barrington. The coffin contained human bones and portions of a leather cuirass studded with metal nails, oxidated and matted together. The remains were forwarded to the British Museum by the Vicar of Burford. Thought to have been deposited in the field following the battle between Ethelbald and Cuthred | ||||
