Holton Item No.: 1 No. of Sheets: 2
Title: Three notes by Mr Percy Manning, the first two on the first page written on strips of lined paper adhered to a page of lined backing paper.
Content: All the notes are based on information from Mr W.E. Biscoe of Holton House, who showed Mr Percy Manning the objects mentioned in the notes. The first note mentions a small bronze socketed celt found in a pond in Holton Park known as 'Copse Head Pond' and thereafter kept at Holton House. The second note mentions the discovery of the skeleton of a woman found near a tree in 'Cockshoot Field', between Holton Wood and Warren Farm, with a blue glass bead which was also kept at Holton House. The third note mentions Roman remains found in a field called the 'Racks' between Holton Park and Lye Hill Quarry. These include a broken cinerary urn with ashes, a globular wide mouthed urn, Roman coins, an iron arrow-head and a bronze pin, which were all kept at Holton House.
