Dorchester Item No.: 23 No. of Sheets: 1
Title: Note based on extract from publication: 'Letter from John Gage, F.R.S., in Archaeologia, Volume XXVII, pp.298-300, Pl.XXII'.
Content: Concerning a bronze buckle dredged up between the weir at Day's Lock, Dorchester, and the bridge below the Lock leading to Little Wittenham. Also a reference to 'John Evans' Ancient Bronze Implements, p.343, Figure 428'. A note below this by Mr Percy Manning explains that the British Museum bought the buckle from Mr Clutterbuck along with a bronze chape, which is published in Ancient Bronze Implements, p.303, Figure 366.
