Hook Norton Item No.: 7 No. of Sheets: 1
Title: Two ink drawings and a note by Mr Percy Manning
Content: Two ink drawings of a bronze palstave, top and side views. A note to the left of the diagrams explains that it was in the possession of Mr G.C. Druce, who was given it by Mr Thomas Beesley of Banbury. Druce claimed that Beesley got it from Hook Norton. Manning notes that it sounds exactly like the one found at Wardington mentioned by Mr Thomas Beesley in his paper on 'Roman remains in the neighbourhood of Banbury' in the Transactions of the North Oxfordshire Archeological Society, p.17, 1853 and thinks it likely that Druce was mistaken.
