Lower Heyford Item No.: 8 No. of Sheets: 2
Title: Manuscript extract from publication: 'Journal of the Archaeological Institute, Volume II, p.89, January 7, 1846.'
Content: Concerning the exhibition by Mr J.O.Westwood of a collection of spears, a knife, six iron and two bronze fibulae, amber beads, white and variegated glass and clay beads discovered in a Saxon barrow at Lower Heywood opened by Reverend Mr Filmer. The barrow also contained a skeleton. The transcript goes on to describe the barrow when it was opened and suggests that it may have been a Christian burial. At the foot of the text, Manning notes that the find was made on 10 December 1845.
