Hook Norton Item No.: 9 No. of Sheets: 2
Title: Two pages of notes with the heading: 'This and the following sheet are copied from letters sent with the box containing the fibula lent by Reverend E.C. Freeman to the Ashmolean Museum'.
Content: There is a list of coins (Silver denarius of Magnus Maximus (Treves mint); Washed denarius of Valerian; 3rd brass of Postumus; Human skull; Silver coin of Constantine) on the first page that were ploughed up at Hook Norton and identified by Mr. Scarlett Potter. This is followed by the transcript from the letter from Miss Walkey of Hook Norton. She mentions other finds from the area. The second transcript is of a card from Mr H.N. Davies referred to in the letter from Miss Walker, describing a bronze fibula and identifying a skull sent to him by Miss Walker. A note at the foot of the page by Mr Percy Manning exlpains that the fibulae came into the possession of Reverend E.C. Freeman of Hook Norton in 1911.
