Title: Two transcripts by Mr E.T. Leeds of letters from Mr P. Newbold to Mr F.J. Haverfield in the Haverfield MSS (Ashmolean Museum).
Content: The first transcript describes the discovery of a Roman altar along with bits of potsherds, bones, iron nails, flaked flints and stones, a little north of Holton village, jut east of Old Park Farm. There is a small map showing the situation of the find sketched below the extract as well as a rough sketch of a piece of bone. The second transcript describes the discovery of small pits in a field, one of which contained pottery and bones and the other of which contained pottery, bones and two iron nails and several loose flat stones that looked like they could have come from a building, although no walls were found. There is a map showing the location of the pits in the field at above the extract.
