| Title: | Manuscript extract from publication: 'North Oxfordshire Archaeological Society Transactions, February 9 1857, p.4.' | ||||
| Content: | Concerning the visit of Mr Pretty (whose name is not mentioned here) to 'Church Hill', looking for the remains of a church or chapel. He found instead an earthwork and a long barrow. Both described. He also visited two other tumuli, at the last of which he found a fragment of a British celt. Mr Pretty discovered that the property was likely to fall into the hands of Lord Churchill and therefore be preserved. | ||||
