| Content: | Extract entitled 'Memorandum of excavation carried on for 4 days in a field belonging to Barton Abbey farm in January 1865.' Describes the excavations which took place after several skeletons were found at different times in a field belonging to Abbey Farm while digging gravel for the roads. Mr. J.Y. Akerman indicated a place for excavation. Describes the features which were uncovered, and lists the finds (including Romano-British pottery) and the different types of bones found there. | ||||
