Content: The information for the extract came from The Reverend W. Pearce, Mr James Stuckfield and others. Concerning Roman remains found at Hanwell near Banbury. Explains the geographical situation of the site and what was found there (Tessellated pavement; Chambers; Stairs cut into rock; Flues; An oven). The finds are listed (Burnt stones; Bones; Pieces of Roman pottery; Pewter dishes; Skeletons; Roman pottery urn containing 70 silver coins of: Nero, Vespasian, Titus, Domitian, Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antonius Pius, Faustina senior, Aurelius, Faustina junior, Verus and Lucilla; Copper coins). Some of the coins went to the Ashmolean Museum and some were in the possession of Reverend W. Pearce, Revd J. Ballard and Reverend G.M. Nelson.
