| Title: | Note based on information from Mr Tom Jones, dredger, of Wallingford | ||||
| Content: | Note mentions that in around 1869 a box containing four bronze implements was dredged up from the river Thames near Wallingford Bridge. One of the objects was like a small battle axe, two were in the shape of spears and the fourth was in the shape of a flag (Manning notes that these objects may be those referred to in Hedge's Wallingford, Volume I, p.148). In 1872, a bronze sword was dredged up at the same place and was sold to Mr J.K. Hedges of Wallingford Castle. | ||||
